What did you do over summer vacation, you ask? Well, I went to the North Carolina Christmas Tree Association Summer Meeting! Christmas trees in the summertime? Yes! Believe it or not, the Christmas tree industry is a thriving industry 365 days a year! It’s not just the time after Thanksgiving until Christmas anymore.
This year, The National Christmas Tree Association Summer Meeting was hosted by the NC Christmas Tree Association and was held at Shatley Farms in Ashe County North Carolina, which produces more Christmas Trees than any other county in the Nation! Shatley Farms is one of the top suppliers of real Christmas trees in North Carolina and sells into the Wholesale Christmas Tree market channel!
I learned so many things about fresh cut Fraser fir trees at the summer meeting. It is a time when Christmas tree growers get together from all over the country. They get together and share their knowledge of real Christmas trees and the industry.
Wholesale Christmas Tree Products
Various vendors had booths at the summer meeting so they could display their products. The Wholesale Growers of Fraser Fir could see what new products were out there and if it was something they could use.
There were even special foundations, like Trees for Troops, to let the Christmas tree suppliers know all about their wonderful cause, and how they could donate bulk Fraser fir trees.
You are probably thinking…just Christmas trees at the summer meeting? No way! There were a variety of products such as tools for shearing, safety equipment, holiday trinkets, baling products, chainsaws and even apparel and other goodies with the NC Christmas Tree Association logo on it!
The summer meeting was all about real Christmas trees and yes - Real Christmas Trees are the way to go! But, did you know that companies make products that can be put on your Real Christmas Tree to add color, make it sparkle, look retro and more?

Not only were there real Fraser fir trees, but there were also Fraser fir wreaths, garland, seedlings, and other fresh Christmas décor as well!
Fraser Fir Tree Farms
Hmmm… Have you ever wondered how the Christmas tree is selected for the White House? At the summer meeting, the National Christmas Tree Association holds a competition and the winner gets to provide the White House with a tree from their farm!
What an honor! Not to mention the bragging rights that go along with it!
This year the winning Fraser Fir Tree Farm that gets to supply the White House with a fresh cut, Fraser fir tree is from Ashe County, North Carolina!
